A
Strict & Particular Baptist Meeting House
And
this is the picture, from the Internet, which triggered the above pages.
The following three factors should be noticed.
The
building is called a
STRICT & PARTICULAR BAPTIST MEETING HOUSE.
Meeting House, Meeting Place or Meeting Room are the old names, the
more modern term 'chapel' or the religious term 'church' do not appear
on the Plaque, nor on the more recent Notice Board.
Notice,
the First Day of the Week is called by its Christian name,
THE LORD'S DAY
and not by its pagan and secular name Sunday.
Also
notice, the absence of symbolic crosses.
This was a normal practice among Baptists
until the 18th or 19th century.
